Hurst Green FC have won the West Lancashire Football League Division 2 title with a thrilling 2-2 draw away at second-placed Bolton County.
An early goal from Paul Coote put Hurst Green in the lead, but plucky Bolton County equalised before half-time. Derek McCarthy scored to take the lead in the second half but again Bolton equalised with just five minutes to go. Hurst Green managed to hang on and was crowned Champions in front of the large group of travelling fans, and the party continued in The Bayley Arms who kindly sponsored the away team coach for the occasion.
Victorious manager Graeme Seedall was keen to heap praise on his players, “I’d like to thank every single one of you for your commitment, your endeavour and your passion you’ve shown towards our fantastic little football club Hurst Green FC. You are truly an amazing set of lads and I’m extremely proud of every single one of you.
